What is reverse dns?

An IP address can be resolved to a domain name using the reverse DNS (Domain Name System) method. In contrast to how IP addresses are resolved from domain names using regular DNS, reverse DNS maps domain names back to IP addresses.

For example:-
A PTR record for the IP address 192.0.2.1 might map to the domain name example.com. When performing a reverse DNS lookup on 192.0.2.1, the result would be example.com.
